APREA、不動産業界向けに先駆的な「ネイチャー・ベースド・ソリューション・プレイブック」を発表

SINGAPORE, 9 October 2025 – The Asia Pacific Real Assets Association (APREA) has launched the Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) Playbook for Real Assets in Asia Pacific, a first-of-its-kind publication for the industry. The playbook marks a major milestone in advancing sustainable practices across the region’s real assets sector, offering investors, developers, and stakeholders a practical guide to integrating NbS into portfolios and projects.

As climate risks intensify and urbanisation accelerates, the role of nature-based approaches has never been more critical. From mangrove restoration and green roofs to permeable pavements and urban forests, NbS provide cost-effective, scalable, and resilient alternatives to traditional infrastructure. Beyond mitigating environmental risks, they unlock new opportunities to enhance asset performance, reduce operational costs, and attract green financing.

Sigrid Zialcita, CEO of APREA, underscored the importance of this initiative: “This playbook is a pioneering step for the real assets industry. By embracing nature-based solutions, we are not only addressing climate and biodiversity challenges but also creating long-term value for investors and communities. APREA is proud to lead this effort in shaping a nature-positive future for the Asia Pacific.”

The playbook delivers:

  • A comprehensive overview of NbS and their business case for the real assets industry.
  • Case studies showcasing successful implementations across Asia Pacific, from Singapore’s “City in Nature” vision to China’s Sponge Cities.
  • Practical guidance on overcoming barriers such as financing gaps, fragmented policy frameworks, and valuation challenges.
  • Frameworks and tools to help companies assess, implement, and report on nature-related impacts.

With infrastructure and urban development driving over 25% of biodiversity loss globally, the adoption of NbS is now a strategic imperative. The Playbook demonstrates how real asset owners and investors can respond to rising physical risks, regulatory requirements, and market demand for sustainable assets.

Esther An, Chief Sustainability Officer of City Developments Limited (CDL) and Chairperson of APREA’s Regional Sustainability and ESG Committee, said, “Biodiversity is the backbone of a healthy planet. According to the WEF, over half of global GDP, approximately USD44 trillion, is moderately or highly dependent on nature and its services. In fact, biodiversity is set to be an asset class that will enhance the natural and financial capital for businesses through investment and value-creation adaptation.”

“APREA’s Nature-based Solutions Playbook is more than a guide. It is a call to action for the whole real estate industry. By championing innovation and collaboration, we can unlock opportunities that deliver both financial returns and measurable environmental impact. The playbook sets the foundation for collective action that will redefine how our industry grows responsibly in the decades ahead,” An added.

The NbS Playbook reinforces APREA’s long-standing commitment to championing sustainability, guiding members with actionable insights, and advocating for best practices that strengthen resilience across the real assets industry. It joins APREA’s suite of landmark sustainability publications, including the ESG Guidebook, ESG Reporting Playbook, and Decarbonisation Playbook.

The Nature-Based Solutions Playbook is now available for download to APREA members.
