2026 Message from the APREA Chairman
Dear APREA Members,
Last year, we marked an important chapter for APREA. We celebrated our 20th anniversary, while continuing to advance the work that defines APREA as an industry trade body. In 2025, we expanded our engagement into markets we had not previously explored in depth, including the Middle East and the Greater Bay Area (GBA), recognising that capital flows are becoming more interconnected. We also strengthened our advocacy for REITs in key markets such as India and China, convened global leaders through high-impact events in different cities, and deepened cross-border investment dialogues, reinforcing APREA’s role as a connector of capital, markets, and ideas in the Asia Pacific and beyond.
As 2026 begins, APAC’s real assets market is moving into a renewed phase of opportunities. Across the region, stabilising economic conditions, improving market sentiment, and greater policy clarity are supporting a rebound in investor confidence. While uncertainties will always be given, the region is demonstrating an ability to adapt, recalibrate, and position itself for long-term value creation, an environment in which real assets continue to play an important role.
The world has changed in fundamental ways. We are operating in a new economic reality shaped by AI, shifting supply chains, demographic transitions, and other megatrends. Climate considerations are now embedded in investment decision-making, and geopolitical developments continue to influence how and where capital is deployed. Yet amidst all of these changes, the Asia Pacific has shown notable resilience. Investors are returning with greater discipline, sharper focus on fundamentals, and a clearer view of risk and reward.
In this context, APREA will continue to evolve to meet the demands of a changing market. This year, we are focused on promoting cross-border investment connectivity, supporting our members with timely insights and opportunities that extend across different markets and sectors. Asia Pacific REITs staged a strong comeback in 2025, and we expect this momentum to build further in 2026. China’s capital markets are entering a new phase, with the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC)’s draft rules for a pilot scheme of commercial REITs opening the door to new asset classes, such as office towers, hotels, and stadiums. These developments reflect increasing market depth and a broader role for real assets among institutional investors.
We are very optimistic about what lies ahead. In a complex and fast-changing world, we hope to bring clarity and leadership, turning insights into action and opportunities into lasting impact across the region.

在此背景下,APREA将继续适应变化的市场要求。今年,我们致力于推动跨境投资互联互通,为会员提供及时的洞察与机会,覆盖不同市场与行业。亚太REITs在2025年强势复苏,我们预计这一势头将在2026年进一步加强。中国资本市场正进入新阶段,中国证监会(CSRC)关于商业REITs试点方案的草案,为办公楼、酒店和体育场等新资产类别敞开了大门。这些发展体现了市场深度的提升,以及实物资产在机构投资者中日益扩大的作用。
