On 30 April 2020, the Chinese Government announced plans to launch an ambitious infrastructure REITs pilot program.
The scope of the program includes REITs that invest in logistics, data centres and industrial parks, as well as traditional infrastructure, such as tollways, warehouses, airports, public utilities. The announcement represents a milestone in the journey to an international REIT marketplace in China, after years of experimenting with quasi-REITs.
