Panel Session 1: REITs: Transformative Impact of REITs, What's next?

REITs have emerged as a transformative force in India, redefining the real estate landscape by offering a regulated asset class. This evolution is particularly significant for AAA+ developers, providing them with a structured avenue to channel their investments. As REITs gain prominence, they not only contribute to the diversification of investment portfolios but also offer developers a strategic platform for sustainable growth within the regulatory framework.

Keynote Presentation: ESG: The Way Forward with ESG

As the global focus on ESG intensifies, District Cooling is a pivotal driver of energy efficiency and optimum resource use. With space cooling requirements contributing to upwards of 60% of a building’s total energy use, DC brings down energy consumption considerably compared to traditional approaches where typically each building has its dedicated chiller plant. DC further minimises emissions intensity by integrating renewable energy sources through freed-up rooftop space for captive/rooftop solar and through city gas distribution networks while simultaneously reducing dependence on the grid. Thermal energy storage systems release stored energy during peak demand periods, avoiding high tariff intervals. Furthermore, DC uses treated grey water to reduce dependency on dwindling potable water supplies and improve resources circularity. In the context of India, the way forward involves a comprehensive and collaborative approach among stakeholders, which as DC strategically aligns with ESG principles, can be instrumental in fostering a resilient and environmentally conscious economy.

APREA’s Commitment to Sustainability in Our Events

APREA is committed to making our events more environmentally responsible. We work closely with our event partners, venues, and suppliers to embed sustainability into the way we plan and execute our gatherings across the region. Our goal is to continually reduce our environmental footprint and promote responsible practices across the real assets industry.

Our key sustainability measures in our events include:

  • Sourcing energy-efficient venues with green certifications or demonstrated sustainable operations.
  • Minimizing single-use plastics, including limiting or eliminating plastic water bottles in favor of refill stations or reusable alternatives.
  • Reducing printed materials and handouts.
  • Using recycled or sustainably sourced paper when printing is necessary.
  • Partnering with vendors and caterers who prioritize sustainable sourcing, local produce, and low-waste food practices.
  • Educating attendees on sustainability efforts at the event and encouraging participation in green practices.

Through these steps, we aim to make every APREA event a reflection of our broader commitment to a more responsible and resilient industry.
