The last decade has seen an aggressive expansion of Asian real estate markets, including Hong Kong. While H-REITs have been impacted by the uncertain macro backdrop, the H-REIT market is poised to benefit from the steady reopening of the city, as well as the continued strong governance and regulatory framework and increasingly diverse offerings. Aside from other REITs pioneers in the region including Japan, Australia and Singapore, relatively younger markets have also joined the scene and are showing good promise. China is a case in point, with the pilot of REITs for regular rental apartments and commercial properties expected to kick off in 2023. This session will address trends and opportunities in Hong Kong REITs.
