The India chapter works closely with Indian government officials and regulators on a range of critical issues. The top advocacy priorities for 2018 are:
  • fine-tune REIT rules (7-point program) and ensure FDI rules are ‘fit for purpose’
  • develop investor awareness campaign, based on the successful program adopted for the UK REIT framework launch in 2007
  • FPI/FII investment rights in relation to real estate corporate bonds
  • remove barriers to insurance companies investing in real estate
  • innovative affordable housing solutions
  • capital allowance rules relevant to REITs/InvITs
  • digititisation of land records
